Client Objective

The SFS is an internationally active supplier for industry and trade providing mechanical fastening systems, screws and tools. Its headquarters are located in Switzerland. Four different companies make up the SFS Holding. Those are SFS-Services, SFS-Intec, SFS unimarket and SFS-Locher. The Notes based intranet solution used thus far was mainly a collection of links, which got more and more confusing with the addition of new links. The SFS.Holding had planned the creation of a company wide employee portal with the main goal to integrate not only Notes databases but also company internal applications. In addition to this the portal had to be highly customizable. The first step was to decide if the portal should be based on WebSphere or SAP. Because of financial reasons SFS decided to go ahead with a Lotus Notes/Domino solution using the you@web software suit. The creation of the portal would be split up into several phases.
