Customer Objective

The German Armed Forces are not only one of Europe's largest military bodies but, with its more than 100,000 registered licenses, also one of Germany's largest organizations to use Lotus Notes in their entire infrastructure. Being a decentralized organization with a large number of different locations and divisions, the Bundeswehr was no longer prepared to handle the distribution of information by way of traditional methods (printed mailings, telex, fax) and wanted to employ modern information technology instead. For this reason a new uniform and web-based information system had to be established, which should be able to provide diverse up-to-date information for the users, including topics like the Armed Forces of the Future, the Armed Forces in Action, Safety and Defense Policy, Internal Leadership, Women in the Armed Forces, or General Conscription. A further objective was to offer the users a means to order related publications and to get in contact with the editors of the new intranet, named Intr@net Aktuell.
