The term ESS, i.e. Employee Self Services, covers a whole number of web-based applications that are available via an intranet or a portal.

In HR management these services support the maintenance of employee data and the process of personnel development. Standard processes like change of address, recording of working times, applications for leave, or invoicing of travel expenses are thereby handled a lot more efficiently.

Employees are able to maintain their general data themselves in special service areas designed for their use. After a final check and clearance the data is forwarded automatically into the connected data filing and HR systems.
