Administration
The administrative duties are uncoupled from content maintenance.
The access to the you@web databases is controlled by the Notes rights concept. Administrators, web designers, editors, and web users can only use those options that are relevant for them according to their role.
The access control may, e.g., determine which documents an author is entitled to edit and which Content Types he is able to use in the process. Preselections like these minimize the chances for errors in creating and maintaining content.
The administration of you@web databases is identical to the administration of other Domino databases. To be able to update quickly and economically to a new software version, especially when a high number of databases are concerned, a special Update Tool is provided.
The adminstration of layout and structure elements is handled in the you@web Repository, which can be used as central administration database for any number of content databases in order to safeguard a consistent layout on all connected websites.
The replication mechanisms provided by Notes enable you, e.g. if you want to use content in several branch locations, to administrate the databases and layout centrally while replicas are used in the branch offices. Such a local access also relieves the wide area network.
